Please read! Dear old readers. >.< This is definitely not yet-another-random-filler. I needed to get your attention somehow. Sorry that it's not a page... I have a message I would like you to read: For more than two years, I've wanted to start a webcomic that I can update regularly, and finish. This is truly something I dream of accomplishing one day. During March, I officially set that goal: that I would start a webcomic this year and not stop it until I wasted all the attempts. WDB was actually not my first, but my second attempt. Back in 2006, I had tried with a story called "Ethereal Fantasy". I never got it to "run", for the same reasons as always: lack of skill, time... but more than anything, lack of CONFIDENCE. Confidence in myself and my ability to draw for an audience. I still have that fear, but I'm determined to fight against it. Even if that means to start a webcomic with the crappiest and most inconsistent artwork. Right. You'll say that I exaggerate like all artists do. But I am being serious. 80% of what I draw is trashed away because I can't finish it. I truly am a perfectionist, and that can be a curse. I can't draw a body that looks right in proportions and according to the style I want. I can do faces and I love that part. I love to draw eyes, lips and hair. Those three are my favorite parts. You can see in this rushed image what I can do in a GOOD tablet session. It looks sketchy. I can't manage to draw entirely clean works. Those you saw previously in the cover and the first page were done with the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. They are not hand drawn or inked. They take too much time and energy from me. A quality page would probably --and easily-- take me more than 15 hours (not counting breaks) to finish. And not only that: I don't get the pages to look how I want. So that's not my preferred choice. And so, I'd like to ask for your opinion on the following: Would you mind if I redo everything from the beginning, with poor art, while I learn and improve my drawing skills? If only for the story... I will try to give you a truly enjoyable story. A romantic fairy-tale with slice of life, adventure, action, and even some not so lighthearted moments. That's what this story is. Would that be okay with you? If not, what would you want me to do? By the way, I have a scanner now. If you accept, I would only need the ink pens in order to do this in the traditional way. But until that happens, I'll scan the pencil sketches and try to ink them with other software. Right now I don't have a job. So the pens will have to wait. I love WDB a lot, and would really like to tell you the story. I promise to do my best to improve my work. As of the moment I start, I'll direct you to the new page. I don't want to delete any of this, so I am starting with a whole new Smackjeeves website. In short, what I am asking is: Would you be willing to follow a comic which art isn't too pretty? I expect your response, and promise to keep in touch and not disappear again. Thank you for reading! |

Links! By the way! Here are some places where you can find me or learn more about me: Arwym @ deviantART - Yup! For those who didn't know, I do have a dA account. :3 I don't update it much, though. You can see traces of my crappiness there. Arwym's *lol* Domain - I have my own website too, lol... But it's currently on hiatus until next notice. I'll get it back up sometime this year. Nonetheless, you can find some information and links there. Luna Tower - This is actually the name of a message board I am going to open soon! They will be forums for many of my projects, including WDB. But it'll also have other themes, and it's a community-oriented place. I am trying to gather all my friends (including those who read WDB) in there so we can meet each other, participate in games, activities, etc., build a network, and become a friendly community! There might be roleplay, too. :D If you want to join, do so! Where Dreams Begin - New home of this comic. Note that, before posting anything, I want to sketch new covers and a few pages, so that I can make a massive opening update, to compensate for all the disappointment I have brought for over a year now. I'll add more links here soon. :3 Thanks! |

Of course! I'd be willing to follow your comic which's art isn't too pretty (from your opinion). Your art is nice and your plot is totally cool too! And anyway, when when your art is, like, totally awesome, you can go back to the beginning and redo the art! Now I'm gonna go fav your new WDB! Toodlios! EDIT::OH, and I think you should add the plot summary to the new webcomic. |

Thanks, Hadiya. :) Oh, yeah! I wasn't meant to give the address yet. I have to work on that site. And on a new summary. I'll be rewriting some parts. The intro will be different, too. :o Really thanks! |
